After their disasterous fire, Watson Lake has rebuilt. They have used Pi Phi funds to create a special collection written by and about Northern women. They have also purchased a number of out of print books. As word of this special collection has spread, individuals have come forward with precious family volumes to be preserved in the library. The books are marked with a specially created bookplate acknowledging Pi Beta Phi.

Just a little note to send a HUGE thank you for the $1000.00 we received from Pi Beta Phi, Arrow in the Arctic, earlier this month. We are pleased to have this extra contribution to put towards our summer children's "Adventure Program" which we run daily throughout the months of July and August. We have hired 3 teenagers to assist 2 young adults deliver this program, free-of-charge. To date we have had 413 youngsters drop in for all kinds of fun, stories, games, music, crafts and adventure outings. Your contribution has helped to enrich the program with extra supplies such as glitter and paint, and musical instruments which will become a permanent part of our children's programming. As you know, the books we have purchased with Pi Phi funds have a special bookplate in them. We have moved your collection to a beautiful set of new shelving and are having a larger poster/sign made to set above the collection.
Please pass on our sincerest thanks to your members. We are very grateful for your continued support!" |
