Beaver Creek, Yukon

On the road from Whitehorse to Fairbanks, Beaver Creek is the westernmost library in Canada, just before crossing into Alaska. They have used Pi Phi funds for a sign on the road to show where they are located and their hours of operation. Since the library is part of the Fire Station, the floors are cement so the rug for the Children's Corner was a very welcome addition.

In August we received a note from the Beaver Creek Community Library Board which said:

"Thank you once again for your very generous donation of $750.00 to our library. Our library has only been in operation for four years, and we are still establishing ourselves and raising funds to provide our community with a well equipped and inviting library.

Your funds will be used towards an upgrade of our outdated computer system. This will greatly enhance the services provided by our library and will be well used by the citizens of Beaver Creek.

You asked about our "Wish List", It would include pillow/bean bag chairs for the children's area, a children's book shelf, a water cooler, photocopier and further upgrades to our computer system.

We very much appreciate your support in helping to build our local library."

In the Yukon logo, the Raven is the bird of wisdom.
